My mom and sister deplored the prequels and loved the originals, while I was the exact opposite growing up (excluding Episode I, which I've just never gotten into but I love your idea of it as a prequel to Episode II and Episode III). In the past few years, I've grown to love the originals more, but the prequels still hold up for me. We get so many teenage characters with a typical tragic backstory, but there's no heart to them. There's a lot of details prequel-haters miss that tumblr or YouTube picks up on in their edits/videos that shows how essential Lucas was to Star Wars. I still give the newer movies a chance, but as you pointed out, I can't tell them apart because Disney makes sure they're using the right iconography to sell merchandise more than the story. ROTS, in particular, for me is my favorite from the mentor/friendship between Anakin and Obi-Wan to the special effects.Katyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00287429151542133314noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6997580999403129485.post-13497143333378301532018-03-29T18:14:55.507-04:002018-03-29T18:14:55.507-04:00Thanks, Brittani! Yeah, there's a lot of CG in the prequels, but the thing is, back when these movies first came out, movies really weren't filmed in that way just yet, where they're as CG heavy as they are. And yet nowadays, well, most blockbusters are filmed that way. Just further goes to show just how ahead of the curve these films were. But even so, there's still a surprising amount of practical effects at work in the prequels, too. Lots of miniature work, like in the original trilogy, that just seamlessly blends in alongside their more CG counterparts. :PChris Widdophttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08976278029088673041noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6997580999403129485.post-3845847676039863452018-03-29T08:10:08.548-04:002018-03-29T08:10:08.548-04:00Great post. I actually rewatched Attack of the Clones myself, and I do have a lot of problems with it, but I never realized just how much CGI is actually in that film. People, food, it's just...a lot I've always like the Obi Wan vs Anakin fight in ROTC though. Until TLJ that was my favorite lightstaber sequence, and that still holds up.
